The Wind Tunnel Explorer is for the adventurer! This experience will have you scrambling over rocks as you make your way into the lava tubes below.
This 2-hour tour will take you off the beaten track or, in our case, off the boardwalk! Your qualified tour guide will take you over and under rocks to access the lava tubes, explaining the geological formations along the way. As the walk involves uneven surfaces and climbing over rocks, a reasonable level of fitness and mobility is required. We recommend this tour is suitable for kids over the age of 8.
Experience details:
Available from Easter through until the end of September, you’ll be guaranteed to visit up to 3 sections of the lava tubes.
Moderate fitness level – uneven surfaces, climbing over rocks.
With less infrastructure this tour does not involve a long distance of walking, but a good level of mobility is required for walking over quite steep, rough and broken rocks. There is a rope to hold on to keep balance. Not suitable for anyone with ankle or knee issues or who has trouble walking on uneven, rough ground. This tour is not suitable for children under 5 or recommended for children aged 5-8.
*Please note, children under 5 years of age are not permitted on this tour.
Please note you MUST bring a torch and MUST wear closed in (or sturdy) footwear with grip soles.
To Bring: Hat and sunscreen, torch, camera, water bottle, enclosed shoes
